My birthday weekend at Blue Moon Rising could have only been better if we had stayed longer!
Arrival:
Ox was the employee manning the desk when we arrived and he remembered my girlfriend from her previous visits with her yoga studio retreat group. He checked us in, helped us load our gear onto the golf cart and drive us up to our cabin. He made sure we were all settled and understood where everything was and how it all worked before he left us to discover the rest of grounds on our own.
Amenities:
We stayed in a two person cabin called Kaya. It is well appointed and cozy. The thing about the cabins at Blue Moon Rising is that you probably won't spend much time inside them. Rather, you will live out your days near them. There is so much to do in the Deep Creek Lake area that we were only inside to eat and sleep.
My only complaint about the cabin itself is the lack of a freezer.
On the grounds:
I'm not sure if it was just the weekend that we were there or if it is always this way, but it seemed that Blue Moon Rising attracts like minded people and we had a great time with Utah the other guests chatting and hanging out. We also explored the other cabins, the party tent area with a dance floor and plenty of room for a big group of party goers, the walking trails, and the common areas.
Wildlife:
We spent a bunch of time exploring the plants and fungi on our hike. But, the best part was seeing a baby bear π» running across the road one time. No sign of momma bear π», but we were on alert just in case. Note: make sure you keep your dog close by.
Deep Creek Lake:
Well... Too much to say about the area. Lots to do. Lots of fun.
Food: we only ate out 2x. Once at Moon Shadow, the sister company to BMRising, and once at Rebecca's Pizza. Both were ok. If you are looking for an ice cream treat, I highly recommend Lakeside Creamery and their homemade ice creams!
Checkout: Easy peasy. We called for a ride and the big red golf cart carried our gear back to the car. The young lady who drove the cart also gave us a hand loading the gear into the car.
Just finished a 3 day getaway at Blue Moon Rising tiny cabins in McHenry, MD. If you're looking to disconnect for awhile, I'd suggest you go stay at the cabins. There are 14 unique cabins. Just depends on your needs. Each cabin has its own theme. Ours was perfect(Orion). Plenty of room, kitchen, queen size bed nook and nice bathroom. Plenty of hot water! Lights strewn in the trees with plenty of walking trails. A great place to unwind from the everyday hustle. Some cabins have great views of Deep Creek Lake. Magnificent!! About 2 miles from The Wisp Ski Resort. If you would like a unique adventure, call Rob and set-up your own getaway. You'll be glad you did. We'll see you again soon!ππ
I thoroughly enjoyed my weekend vacation at Deep Creek Lake because I totally loved my cabin here! My husband and I came here to celebrate my birthday, and to get away from the city for Memorial Day weekend. We stayed at the cabin called Walden, and it was exactly what I envisioned! My favorite color is red and it has a red door and red furniture!!! haha Anyway, the cabin has a kitchenette, seating to eat, chairs to sit, a queen bed on the main floor, two twin beds at the top floor (climb up the ladder to the loft) and a bonus outdoor shower (we totally used it and shower ourdoors was quite exilerating!) The cabin was so comfy, and on a hot day it was very cool because the house was hidden in the woods and away from the sun. This place is also dog friendly, and some of the cabins offer multiple beds for a family of 4 or 5.
Please note, that you cannot drive your car straight to the cabin. You must park your car at the office, and the cabin is up the hill. You would either walk up the hill or ask a staff member to drive you up the hill in a golf cart. At first we didn't like it, but after the second night it makes sense - this to ensure the cabin area is quiet and calm without cars driving and honking. I really appreciate the quietness! Also, the walk up isn't that bad (1/8 of a mile or 1000 feet up if I were to guess) and we needed the exercise.
The staff members (Rob and Whitney are they names, I think?) were wonderful! They answered the office phone prompty and came to give us a ride when needed. We already booked our second trip back to Blue Moon Rising. We totally recommend this place if you are going to visit Deep Creek Lake and you need a quiet and serene place to stay!
AMAZING!! Blue Moon Rising is such a unique and magical escape!! No picture taken does this place justice- it's a mecca of peaceful, natural beauty that just soothes the soul at the very core!!! The view is just breath-taking!!!
Shaun was absolutely wonderful and made our weekend extra special with the warmest hospitality we've ever experienced!! He explained everything about our cabin and answered all of our questions, and was always there to give us a ride back to the top where our cabin was located.
We can't wait to go back!!!
Blue Moon was the perfect venue for our wedding. All of our families (and some friends) were able to stay with us the whole weekend which made our day even more special. From the cabins to the decor, we were able to capture the exact whimsy we wanted for our day. Rob, Whitney, Kevin, and Ox were incredibly helpful and attentive, we felt like royalty. If youβre looking for an enchanted woodsy wedding, this is THE place to have your wedding, or even a weekend getaway.
I stayed here with my husband and our 2 dogs. It was our 10 year wedding anniversary, and we wanted a quiet relaxing vacation to celebrate. We stayed in the Moonshadow cabin, which was super charming and cozy.
When we arrived, the weather was very windy, rainy and cold. The cabin kept us all warm and we slept well through the blustery storm. The next day, the weather was much nicer and sunny. We went on numerous walks throughout the grounds with the dogs, as well as a 1 mile hike on one of their trails.
We had the best time and are definitely coming back in the future. The staff is absolutely wonderful and helpful! It was a nice, quiet and relaxing stay. Exactly what we needed to get a break from the noisy stress of our daily grind.
We celebrated our honeymoon at Blue Moon Rising and it was magical! I was looking for a place where we could enjoy nature with limited contact with people due to Covid-19. This hit all of my needs! The staff were super understanding and helpful. We brought our own food to prepare and the little kitchenette was more than enough. I enjoyed walking the property and taking in the fantastic atmosphere. I can't wait to go back!
We just completed another wonderful yoga retreat at Blue Moon Rising. I cannot imagine a more idyllic setting for our retreat. It is so beautiful! The Pavilion was the ideal place to practice yoga each morning and evening. The tiny houses are absolutely perfect, and each one is totally unique. (Our favorite is Morning Glory.) Our group had rented out all the houses, and it was just so special to meet our friends coming down the hill to practice every morning. I am already looking forward to our next retreat at Blue Moon Rising!
